E-TECH EUROPE 2022, the Electrical & Electronic Technologies Exhibition and Conference for the Electric Vehicle Industry, will be held at the Bologna Exhibition Centre, Italy, on 12-13 April 2022.
Assumption: the European Commission has adopted a package of interventions to render the EU’s climate, energy, land use, transport and taxation policies all fit for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% within 2030, as compared to 1990 levels. Achieving such emission reduction over the next decade is crucial to Europe becoming the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050 while making its Green Deal a reality.
Stronger CO2 emission standards for cars and vans will accelerate the transition to zero-emission mobility by requiring the average emissions of new cars to come down by 55% from 2030 and 100% from 2035 as compared to 2021 levels. Consequently, all new cars registered as of 2035 will be zero-emission. In other words, all be battery electric vehicles (BEV). Several vehicle manufacturers have already announced that they’re discontinuing the development of internal combustion engines in order to focus all their energies on electric vehicles. Indeed many will altogether stop selling internal combustion-engined cars in Europe by 2030.
