13 April 2026A new European technological alliance is taking shape, set to influence the future of robotics and autonomous driving. This long-term collaboration involves AImagelab of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, one of Europe’s leading groups in computer vision and multimodal learning, which will work together with AMD Silo AI. The technological alliance will focus on robotics, autonomous driving, and multimodal artificial intelligence, with the aim of expanding into other fields over time.
The project is structured along multiple strategic lines and aims to integrate advanced research with industrial applications. The first phase involves the creation of a World Models Foundry, a laboratory dedicated to developing advanced models capable of understanding and interacting with the real world. At the same time, the partners will work on building a platform designed to enable new generations of robotic systems and autonomous driving solutions.
A key role will also be played by the technological infrastructure: demos and toolkits will be optimized to accelerate the development and dissemination of the solutions created.
The initiative aligns with major European strategies on artificial intelligence, in line with programs such as Minerva and the AI Factories promoted by EuroHPC JU. Strengthening the link with industry, Generative Bionics, one of the founding members of the Foundry, will ensure a direct connection between research and practical applications.
The stated ambition is to produce cutting-edge results in robotics and autonomous mobility, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for future expansion into other high-tech sectors—a further step toward building a competitive European ecosystem in the global AI landscape.
