Battery Booster: Europe allocates €1.5 billion to strengthen domestic battery production
17 June 2026From research and development in vehicle electrification to the outlook for the Italian components industry, from the future of the supply chain to autonomous driving scenarios, and from regulatory developments to market trends and the economic sustainability of the sector.
These are some of the key topics that will be addressed during the conference program of the fifth edition of E-Tech Europe, the international exhibition dedicated to advanced batteries and innovative technologies for the production and recycling of electric and hybrid vehicles for the automotive, transportation, and industrial sectors, taking place from October 7 to 9, 2026, at Bologna Exhibition Centre (Italy).
The conference program will open on Wednesday, October 7, with a roundtable discussion on the Italian supply chain for instrumentation and equipment used in energy storage systems. On Thursday, October 8, discussions will focus on innovation in electric vehicles, a field in which Italian and European R&D must compete with leading global players in a sector that will play a significant role in shaping the future of the European automotive industry.
The same day will also feature Battery Day, the second edition of the conference-event dedicated to the battery industry, organized in collaboration with Battery Industry, the world’s leading industry portal with more than 100,000 followers on LinkedIn.
On the morning of Friday, October 9, E-Tech Europe 2026 will host sessions on “The Future of the Italian Components Industry: Hardware, Firmware and Software” (covering areas of excellence such as braking systems, motorsport-derived technologies, onboard software, electronic and electrical components, embedded firmware, and testing services) and “Autonomous Driving and V2X: The Challenge of Smart Road Services” (while awaiting regulatory developments that will enable the transition from pilot projects to large-scale deployment, companies and research centers continue to develop innovative solutions, often supported by public funding programs).
In the afternoon, a technical workshop on off-road electrification will bring together experts to discuss available technologies and components. Another key event will be the conference “ELVs: Regulations, Market Dynamics and Economic Sustainability”, the annual meeting dedicated to stakeholders involved in vehicle dismantling, recycling, end-of-life vehicle management, and material recovery.
The conferences benefit from the support of leading industry associations, including ADA (Italian Vehicle Dismantlers Association), ADQ (National Association of Quality Vehicle Dismantlers), and TTS Italia (Telematics, Transport and Safety Association).
The program will also include two corporate workshops: one organized by Metel, focusing on the future of the supply chain in the era of intelligent automation, and another by Schaeffler, presenting the results achieved in the development of a demonstration vehicle equipped with an immersion-cooled battery system.
E-Tech Europe 2026 will take place within Urban Tech 2026 – The Urban Technology Show, a new event dedicated to e-mobility, traffic management, commuting, security, telecommunications & data, and environmental technologies. It is the first European exhibition hub focused on the intelligent management of cities, urban areas, communities, and territories, aiming to address and provide solutions for mobility, traffic, commuting, infrastructure, security, innovation, digitalization, telecommunications, connectivity, resources, energy, sustainability, and environmental challenges.
Urban Tech 2026 includes several international exhibitions and conferences, such as:
- E-Tech Europe 2026 – advanced batteries and technologies for electric and hybrid vehicles;
- E-Charge 2026 – the EV charging industry and market, charging stations, technologies, infrastructure, and services;
- Traffic 2026 – traffic management, infrastructure, safety and enforcement systems, smart roads and smart cities, intelligent mobility, parking solutions, and public transportation;
- Wireless & Towers 2026 – transmission towers, infrastructure, technologies, and equipment for telecommunications, broadcasting, satellite communications, security applications, smart cities, and territorial management.
Urban Tech 2026 will also host secsolutionforum 2026 – The Innovative Event for the Security Industry, organized by Ethos Media Group.
Running concurrently will be Asphaltica 2026 (road paving and road construction, organized by Siteb) and SAIE 2026 (building and construction, organized by Senaf).
