Companies focusing exclusively on electric vehicles are the only ones in the automotive sector expecting job growth over the next three years. This is the most significant finding from the 2025 Survey by the Observatory on the Transformation of the Automotive Ecosystem (TEA), led by the Center for Automotive & Mobility Innovation at the Venice School of Management – Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and presented at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

The most interesting figure for those դիտ looking at electric mobility concerns employment. Overall, the automotive sector is forecasting a negative balance of 4.9% over the next three years, but companies investing exclusively in electric vehicles expect their workforce to grow by 1.8%.

Moreover, these companies report a strong shortage of specialized skills, particularly in power electronics, software development, and energy management. These are the key competencies for electric powertrains, inverters, energy storage systems, and charging infrastructure—in other words, the technological core of electric vehicles. A clear signal that where investment in EVs increases, demand for skilled professionals grows as well.

The picture emerging from the TEA Observatory is that of a divided supply chain. On one side, a majority adopting a wait-and-see approach, postponing more demanding decisions; on the other, a smaller group investing decisively in electric mobility, which—based on the data—is growing and creating jobs.
