Addtoshape is the first company in Italy capable to produce copper parts for industrial applications with Additive Manufacturing (AM), and it designs and manufactures innovative electrical components for high performance electric motors.

Pure Copper AM is the key to increase the performance of electric motors. Complex geometries, impossible to be realized with traditional round or flat copper wire, are now achievable without limits, allowing maximum freedom of expression in terms of shape, function integration and performance. AM reduces the carbon footprint of electric motors by further increasing their efficiency and power density.

Addtoshape’s Additive Manufacturing technology allows the industrial production of pure copper parts with the same mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of ETP Copper C11000. Costs and lead times for small and medium batches are extremely lower than traditional costs.

The AM of components, from powder directly to the shaped state, overcomes bending limits and standardized, constant cross sections of traditional wires and plates, allowing Addtoshape to maximise slot fill factor and power density. To overcome overheating, liquid cooling systems are integrated into the winding to surgically cool the critical regions, allowing unique motor operating ranges.

Regarding e-Mobility, Addtoshape offers the following solutions produced with pure copper AM:

• Bus bars and connectors, seamless and complex shaped
• Heatsinks and heat exchangers, compact and flow optimized
